An exercise for any of y'all who are interested:
Find a place on this earth that borders Islam that is not under direct assault by Islam.
Extra credit exercise:
Find an Islamic community in any country that has not supplied jihadiscum to which ever front is being fought against the murderous, rapacious, thieving, degenerate caliphate.
Okay, I do get this. i really, really do.
1. On the "racial profiling", the suicide bombers elsewhere have turned to people outside the profile on occasion. (e.g. wedding in Jordan, female bomber, 2005 maybe). If we get stuck on a profile, won't they change tactics?
2. Let's say we search, or suspect, Muslim males, 17-40, regardless of citizenship or--clothes, or --whatever-- in some constant fashion. How does our nation keep from alienating the ones who are Not Muslim Extremists?
3. I think if you can answer these questions, you have finished making your case. If you can answer these questions, they could put you in charge of the whole policy. I am not being sarcastic.

A huge part of the current problem is that, according to the progressive meme of the time, we're not supposed to look at muslims at all.
It's not a zero sum game. Looking at the obvious does not mean others wont be checked at all. But, by refusing to admit the obvious, we're also not supposed to look at connections to the obvious, regardless of a person's looks or ideology.
In Europe, for example, there's plenty of evidence that the anarchos and hard core left and the neo-naziscum are aligning with the jihadiscum and providing "operators" for the cause.
But, the connections can not be explored because someone's political feelings might get hurt.
Further more, there are known knowns that can not be addressed due to abhorrent politics.
CAIR is known to be an outreach branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.
We have hard core jihadiscum mullahs preaching and recruiting in our prisons.
These are known and have been known for a long time, but we can not do anything about it because of the idiot, suicidal retardation of our current political dominance of the enemy lovers and excuse makers among us.

Okay, I get the "zero-sum" part. That's good, a very good answer.
I also get the part about abhorrent politics.
I don't know how to answer the alienation of a segment of society part. In addition, what you say about prisons is also very chilling, especially since we can't seem to get the drugs out of them either. And prisons seem quite full these days--another closed segment of society. So that looks like the big question, then.

What's truly pathetic is that most in this country absolutely refuse to call a spade a spade.
We're so worried about offending the people that want to kill us, that we turn our backs to them and let them have at us.
The FBI (Famous But Incompetent) AND the Army refuse to to see this for what it was: A Terrorist Act (Sudden Jihad Syndrome).
WHEN we get attacked again, a lot of people will have to answer for that.
Political Correctness will kill us.

The alienation issue is something much smarter folk than myself will have to address.
I will say this though, there's lots and many among the muslims that are getting it through their own heads already.
Iran for example. Millions have left Islam. Some for various brands of Christianity, some for Zoroastrianism, some for Buddhism, some for plain ol' atheism. It's gotten so bad that the mullahs had to reinstate the "leave Islam and die" laws.

I think they probably are thinking about it as terrorism. Not to investigate the possibility would be exceedingly careless. (Or, maybe I made your point. Could be.) I think they want to do it without a lot of reporters and avoid the P.C.
Dear Grimmy, Thank you. People are thinking about the isolation aspect, I live right next door in DC. But you know, whatever side of the political aisle, they are all thinking about it at desks.
I think police officers on the ground will get a top-down policy if only the desks consider it.
Which, given the conversation that the Bronze has set up for us, does not sound like a great idea.
