I always wonder what Thanksgiving must be like if you're not at home or not with your family.

If where you are it's not cozy, but rough and dangerous.

And the food isn't incredible, more like institutional — meant well, but not going down well.

I always wonder what Thanksgiving must be like if you're a soldier? Far from home. Very far from cozy. Very, very far from even safe.

I suspect you think of family or kids or grandma or maybe just real home cooking.

Then you remember the real hell that surrounds you and you hunker down and eat quietly.

Maybe you wonder whether the rest of us are thinking about you or grateful to you.

I know words seem empty this time of year — maybe even meaningless this day of the year. But trust me when I say of all the thanks this day, "you" are the most deserving "any" day.

You, who toil in the trenches, so we can eat at home.

You, who risk all, so that we even have a home.

So know well we are a grateful nation. Not just on Thanksgiving. But here all days to simply say, thanks, for just giving.

Cops, Feds Armed With M16s On Patrol For Forseeable Future

NEW YORK (CBS) ― The world's economic fears were violently pushed aside on Wednesday by another global threat -- terrorism.

A massive coordinated attack was launched in Mumbai, India just hours after the FBI warned that Al Qaeda may be targeting New York's subways and railroads.

If Al Qaeda terrorists have their way there will be chaos and mayhem here this holiday season, a mass transit bomb plot that would probably affect all the subway and train lines at Penn and Grand Central stations.

"The threat is serious, the threat is significant, and it is plausible," said Congressman Peter King, R-Long Island, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Uniformed officers, including this NYPD Counter Terrorism Squad members and Amtrak cops with M-16s, flooded Penn Station Wednesday after the FBI said it had received a "plausible but unsubstantiated" report that Al Qaeda operatives discussed a plan two months ago to bomb New York City's mass transit system.

The report said: "These discussions reportedly involved the use of suicide bombers or explosives placed on subway/passenger rail systems."

Sources told CBS 2 HD the plot involved the Long Island Rail Road. If the explosion went off in Penn Station, the source said, it would affect transportation of Amtrak's northeast corridor between Boston and Washington, LIRR service and New York City subway service.

"This is definitely linked to Al Qaeda and they had very significant details about exactly how they would carry out the attack, where they would carry it out -- that's what makes it sound so plausible," Rep. King said.

The NYPD and Metropolitan Transportation Authority said they were on high alert and adding extra manpower. Even before the threat became public Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said he was adding more cops.

"We always have to be concerned when we have large gatherings like on Thanksgiving," Kelly said. "We always have to have sufficient deployment of police officers."

New Yorkers had this reaction to the new threats.

"I've got to get on a train, but that's horrible," commuter Carolyn Tobin said. "I mean ... the memory ... but just like after 9/11, we just kept going on."

Added Ryan Barreiro: "I'm not too worried about it. That's exactly what they want. If they're gonna get you, they're gonna get you."

"I'm not afraid," Rick Hendrickson said. "I've lived here my whole life, in Manhattan, so has my wife and we just take life as it comes along."

Riders can expect a heightened law enforcement presence -- cops, federal agents, canine teams and inspectors.

80 dead in India Terrorist attacks

Hundreds have been injured in Mumbai (formerly Bombay). India's top two Anti-Terror people have been killed in the attack. The attacks are still on-going.


This was a very complicated/coordinated attack on multiple targets (hotels, train stations, shops, a hospital and a police station) in two geographically separated areas that was specifically targeting Americans and Brits.

One thing I noticed watching some of the video was just how many people (sheep) were cowering in large groups, in the area of the gunfire. They apparently weren't being shot-at, but they were cowering in groups due to nothing more than bare fear. Jeeze, LEAVE THE AREA! Immediately! Don't stick around to be a target.

Apparently American and/or Brit citizens are being held hostage in at least one hotel. This will not end well for them. They didn't take them hostage for a ransom.

If/when we leave Iraq and Afghanistan, we'll see things like this here. America is a much freer country than other countries like India. This country is what's called a "permissible environment". I'm VERY surprised we haven't seen another Beslan-type attack (or similar) here in America or in other Western countries.

As I said, we're lucky this type of thing hasn't happened in America. I had a phone convo with a buddy of mine who's a Sergeant at a big-city PD and like he said, the main reason something like this hasn't happened here is because we're keeping them occupied over there.

UPDATE: Times of India is reporting 900 injured. Latest reports are that as many as 100 Terrorists carried out the attacks. Also, reports are suggesting that the group claiming responsibility (Deccan Mujahedeen) is affiliated with al Qaeda (and possibly helped by the Pakistan ISI). The Terrorists apparently inserted the area via boat. The boat was captured by government forces.

UPDATE: At least 11 policemen killed.

UPDATE (5:34 PST): The attacks are still continuing, over ten hours since execution. Terrorists are still holed-up in at least one hotel and they still have Western hostages.

The TSA (and to a lesser extent, the DHS) is a COMPLETE JOKE.

We haven't had 9/11-type attacks in this country because of pretty good intel and the work of LE/Mil (and a lot of luck), not because of anything DHS or TSA has done.

The ridiculous policies/procedures of the TSA haven't done anything to make us safer since 9/11. They (and their policies) are laughable. Anyone that fly's knows this.

This proves my point:

State police and airline ticket agents whisked a Rockland man who claimed he had a gun around TSA security checkpoints at Logan International Airport, putting him on a plane after he flashed a Chatham assistant harbormaster’s badge and claimed he was a federal agent, an FBI affidavit said.

Federal prosecutors yesterday charged Stephen Grant, 48, of Rockland with impersonating a federal agent. Grant is a medical supply salesman who worked summer weekends in Chatham monitoring boaters.

Grant told the Herald last night he is innocent, claiming a misunderstanding, and said the situation was settled nearly two years ago after he admitted to mistakes and paid a $4,000 fine. He said at no time did he carry a gun.

A state police spokesman declined to comment about the apparent security breach last night, referring calls to the U.S. attorney’s office. Transportation Safety officials declined comment.

The affidavit states that on a January 2007 trip from Boston to San Diego, Grant told American Airlines [AMR] ticket agents he was armed and worked for the Department of Homeland Security. He filled out a flying-while-armed form in which, the FBI says, he listed his occupation as DHS. In reality, the salesman volunteered on the Cape and Island Homeland Security Subcommittee. On two flights, crews following federal regulations identified for him everyone who was armed on the plane, including two air marshals. On one plane, he was taken into the cockpit.

The affidavit says the error began when the ticket agents at Logan, asking for Grant’s identification, were satisfied with his harbormaster’s badge, and a trooper only looked at Grant’s form and his badge before signing Grant in the TSA log book and letting him board his flight via an exit door. Though required by federal rules, at no point did Grant show them a letter from the Department of Homeland Security, his supposed employer, stating the reason he needed to carry a gun, the affidavit said. A gate agent in San Diego spotted the error, and the FBI met Grant at Logan.

Grant, insisting the matter had been resolved, said last night, “I put everything behind me. This call comes back again today. I have nothing to hide. . . . Somewhere along the line there’s been a mixup. Why now? Why after two years when all this stuff was settled with a fine? It was a stupid thing to have happened.”

It happened almost two years ago, but we're just now learning of it.

Your credit score

I went to a seminar tonight about raising my/your credit score. I saw a report about the seminar on last nights news-cast and they had another seminar tonight. It cost me $10. I went to their webpage and checked out what they had to say and watched the videos they posted. They hawk a book called "The Road to 850".

My credit score was about 750 last time I checked, but I don't know what it is currently. I think of myself as pretty financially savvy regarding credit and credit scores, etc., but there was way more than meets the eye, that I didn't know. I confirmed a few things I already knew and learned many more new things.

In short, the seminar was basically a very rudimentary covering of the book. Everything that he talked about in the seminar is covered in the book, in much greater depth. I bought the book at the half-way break. The book was well worth the $22 I paid for it (same price on Amazon), but I should've just bought the book and skipped the whole seminar (time and money wasted).

It started about 20+ minutes late (it was supposed to be from 6pm - 830pm) and it ran 40 minutes over (because he answered questions from people during the ten-minute break, which lasted thirty-minutes). He spent part of the time showing the same videos that are on the website. There were some audio problems which were a PITA and there was some marketing geared towards the book (natch) and the company he works for, but it wasn't over-bearing.

Bottom line: Buy the book, skip the class. If you care about your credit score (and you should) then buy this book, because it's chock full of good info. If you don't care, don't bother.

Why can't I ever get sexually harrassed?

L.A. cop awarded $2 mil in discrimination suit

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday awarded $2.25 million to a police officer who said she was discriminated against and sexually harassed by her male colleagues and supervisors, and then retaliated against when she complained.

Officer Patricia Fuller said she was repeatedly cautioned that the LAPD's canine bomb unit at Los Angeles International Airport, where she was the only female canine handler for six years, was an "ol' boys club" and not "female friendly," according to court documents filed in 2006. When hired in 1999, she was the squad's second female canine handler in Los Angeles Police Department history.

Fuller alleged in her lawsuit that men in the unit took items from her desk and the women's locker room, used her shower and hygiene products, exposed their genitalia, made offensive and sexually explicit remarks, and excluded her from training exercises and other opportunities.

Some offenses Fuller described in court documents included an office bulletin board on which colleagues posted sexually explicit cartoons and images, racial epithets and derogatory images that her supervisor said "built camaraderie." Male colleagues also barred her from "cigar meetings" they held to discuss training issues and practices, and would then blow cigar smoke in her face.

Additionally, Fuller said a colleague once told her that another officer had rubbed his penis on her phone. Although she did not report the incident, Fuller said that when she made other complaints, she was told she was too "anal" and to "stay out of the guys' business."

Fuller said complaining to colleagues and supervisors only intensified their harassment of her. She was falsely accused of misconduct, denied a promotion and paired with a "substandard" partner, according to court documents.

Fuller's attorney, Matthew McNicholas, said he had no comment on the settlement, which was unanimously approved in closed session.

The settlement is the third multimillion-dollar verdict against the LAPD in the last three months involving retaliation claims.

The retaliation suits were "a very troubling, serious matter," said Councilman Dennis Zine, a former LAPD sergeant and member of the council's Public Safety Committee. "The financial hit on the taxpayers and on the budget is significant."

Last week, a Los Angeles County Superior Court jury awarded $3.6 million to an officer who said he was demoted and suffered retaliation when he defended Fuller. In September, a jury awarded $3.1 million to an officer who said he was penalized for reporting a superior's racial epithets and possible embezzlement.

Shots in Wash. mall after argument prove fatal

TUKWILA, Wash. – Shots erupted in a packed Seattle-area shopping mall Saturday after an apparent argument between a gunman and two other young men, killing one of the men, creating panic among shoppers and sending police on a store-to-store search for the shooter, authorities said.

The Southcenter Mall in Tukwila was locked down as police tried to find the gunman. Officer Mike Murphy, a police spokesman, told The Associated Press there were "thousands" of shoppers at the mall when the shooting took place just before 3:45 p.m.

The two injured men were taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center, where one of them died. Murphy said he did not know the condition of the other victim.

The gunman used a pistol and fired multiple shots, Murphy said. At least two other people were detained for questioning, he said.

As police searched for the gunman, they allowed store employees and customers remaining in the mall to exit in groups, Murphy said. There was a possibility the assailant escaped with a crowd, he said.

The gunman and the two victims were all in their late teens or early 20s. No one else was injured, Murphy said.

SWAT teams from all over the area converged on the mall to help search for the suspect, who is believed to have gotten into an altercation with the two victims. Unknown was exactly what led to the shooting and the relationships of the shooter to the victims — or even between the two victims.

Chauncey Williams, a soldier from Fort Lewis, said he witnessed the shooting. He was exiting a store when he saw two men arguing and one start firing a gun, he said.

"It's like I'm back in Iraq or something," Williams told The Seattle Times.

Shopper Mark Nickels, 51, described the chaos after the shooting.

"Everybody just stopped," he said. "Everybody thought something fell. Then a second or two later, there was a second shot and then everybody scattered. People were running to the (exits) or running to the stores to hide."

Florida teen commits suicide in front of webcam

MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida college student killed himself by overdosing on drugs in front of a live online audience as some computer users egged him on, some debated his method, and others tried to talk him out of it.

Abraham Biggs, 19, of Pembroke Pines, died Wednesday at his home from a toxic combination of opiates and benzodiazepine, a drug used to treat insomnia and depression, said Wendy Crane, an investigator with the Broward County medical examiner's office.

Authorities say the Broward Community College student is not the first person to commit suicide with a webcam rolling.

It's unclear how many people were watching through the Web site bodybuilding.com. Someone finally notified a site moderator, who pinpointed Biggs' location and called police, but they arrived too late to save him, Crane said.

Biggs, who used the screen name "CandyJunkie" on the bodybuilding Web site, started blogging about plans to kill himself 12 hours before he was found lying dead on his bed. He posted a link from bodybuilding.com to Justin.tv, a site that allows users to broadcast live videos from their webcams.

Some users who read the blog told investigators they did not take him seriously because he had threatened suicide on the site before.

But Biggs' family was infuriated that neither viewers nor the site acted sooner to save him.

"When (police) came in, the webfeed stopped. So that's 12 hours of watching," said his sister, Rosalind Biggs, who said her brother struggled with bipolar disorder. "They got hits, they got viewers, nothing happened for hours."

Rosalind Biggs described her brother as a friendly, social, outgoing person who struck up conversations with Starbucks baristas and enjoyed taking his young nieces to Chuck E. Cheese.

"It boggles the mind," she said. "We don't understand."

Authorities could not immediately verify the authenticity of a video posted online that shows a gun-wielding officer entering a bedroom where a man is lying on a bed, facing away from the camera. The officer peers over to look at the man, then begins to examine him as the camera lens is covered. The video matches Crane's description of events.

Condolences poured in to Biggs' MySpace page, where the mostly unsmiling teen is seen posing in a series of pictures with various young women. On justin.tv, his alias was "feels_like_ecstacy."

In a statement, Justin.tv CEO Michael Seibel said: "We regret that this has occurred and want to respect the privacy of the broadcaster and his family during this time."

The Web site declined to release information on how many people were watching the broadcast. The entire site had 672,000 unique visitors in October.

Messages left with the bodybuilding Web site were not immediately returned Friday.

A spokesman for the Pembroke Pines police said they were investigating but declined further comment.

Crane said she knows of at least one other case in which a South Florida man shot himself in the head in front of an online audience, although she didn't know how much viewers saw. In Britain last year, a man hanged himself while chatting online.

Even when Romanian pastor Richard Wurmbrand was placed in a solitary prison cell devoid of light and sound, he continued to preach to an unseen audience.

After his miraculous release from prison and his eventual migration to the United States, Pastor Wurmbrand wrote several books describing his prison experience and the sermons that he composed and memorized while in solitary confinement. After a few years, he received this letter:

Dear Pastor Wurmbrand,

I was raised in a godly home, but I strayed and eventually ended up in a prison here in Canada. I wanted to return to God but didn't know how, so I prayed, "God, if somewhere in the world there is another lonely prisoner who knows you, please bring me his thoughts." I heard an inner voice telling me to sit quietly and confidently and that God would reach me.

Miraculously, night after night I began hearing a kind of sermon that seemed to come from far away. I repented, and after my release from prison, I ran across your book, Sermons in Solitary Confinement, in a Christian bookstore. I immediately recognized these sermons as the same ones I had heard in prison. Thank you for delivering them!

Pastor Wurmbrand received two other letters from different countries that contained nearly identical stories. Truly, angels had carried the sermons to others crying out to God.

FBI reports 49% increase in firearm background checks in 1 week

Damn...

Four US Law Enforcement officers have been killed over the past week.

The latest was today in PA. FBI S/A Samuel Hicks was killed while serving a narcotics search-warrant. He was a former street copper with Baltimore PD.

Two days ago was Sgt. Tim Simpson of Philadelphia PD. He was killed by a drunk driver, while responding to a robbery call. He was a partner (and friend) of Sgt. Steve Liczbinski, who was killed on May 3rd. Simpson had taken over Liczbinski's patrol squad and locker after he was killed.

Three days ago, Sgt. Monty Carmikle was killed in a helicopter crash in AR.

Seven days ago, it was Dep. Larry Canfield in CA.

RIP Brothers...

Phoenix PD against the Mexican Mafia

Three Phoenix Police Department officers get into a foot pursuit with a gang member. He's a member of the Mexican Mafia, a very violent street and prison gang. They're chasing him through yards and over fences. As the officers scale a fence he's waiting in ambush and opens fire on them. The officers return fire. The officers are unharmed, the suspect is shot once in the abdomen. He was later convicted of attempted murder of police officers and sentenced to 28 years in prison.

One of the officers had a recorder running during the confrontation. Even 7 minutes after the shooting you can hear the officer breathing like he's been in a marathon. He's not out of breath, that's pure adrenaline. He knows he just came within inches of a bag pipe send off and his body is pulsing with "fight or flight" hormones. He's breathing hard trying to keep it all under control and think.

Also keep in mind that as the adrenaline skyrockets any pretense of manners disappear and your most basic survival instincts kick in. The officers are hoping their graphic threats will trigger any survival instinct in the suspect and he'll comply with their orders.

Yep, he cares so much about his family, that he isn't even going to go to his (typical white-person) grandmother's funeral.

I'd be willing to bet a large amount of money, that if he could've gotten away with not visiting her for a day, just before the election (when she was on her death-bed), he would have.

If he thinks this much about the woman that supposedly raised him, how much will he do for people that he cares nothing about?

Memorial scheduled for Obama's grandmother

HONOLULU – A memorial service for President-elect Barack Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, will be held Friday at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu.

The Borthwick Mortuary said Wednesday that the service will be open to the public, but the Obama family will not be in attendance.

The president-elect is scheduled to visit Hawaii in December to honor his grandmother, who helped raise him in Honolulu and died two nights before the election. Officials have not specified when Obama will make the trip.

Dunham's husband, Stanley Dunham, who fought in World War II, was buried at the cemetery following his death in 1992.

It's unclear what arrangements have been made for Madelyn Dunham's remains.

Dis-ingenuous scum-bag.

Deputy Lawrence Canfield was killed in a motorcycle accident on Coloma Road, in Rancho Cordova. He was traveling eastbound with lights and siren activated, attempting to overtake a speeder, when a vehicle turned left in front him.

He was transported to Mercy San Juan Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Deputy Canfield had served with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department for 13 years and was assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department through contract. He is survived by his wife, two children, and parents.

Rancho Cordova police officer dies after traffic accident

Lawrence Canfield, a 43-year-old Sacramento County sheriff's deputy, has died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident today in Rancho Cordova, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff Department.

Canfield was pronounced dead at Mercy San Juan Medical Center, where he was taken after the accident, which occurred shortly before 2 p.m.

Canfield, who has been assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department's motorcycle unit for four years, was a 13-year veteran with the sheriff's department, said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran.

The accident occurred near Coloma Road and Sierra Madre Court.

The deputy was eastbound on Coloma when he was hit. It is unknown what he was doing when the accident occurred and what caused the accident, Curran said.

The 79-year-old man driving the vehicle that hit the deputy has been detained. The driver stopped to provide aid to the injured deputy, Curran said.

Curran said the deputy is married and has two children.

In the past, residents along Coloma Road have complained about the traffic and asked for stronger enforcement, but it is unknown if the deputy's call was because of those issues.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to our officers and their families," said Chief Reuben Meeks of the Rancho Cordova Police Department.

I remember seeing him at the Sacramento Main Jail. We worked there at the same time, but not on the same shift.

Fox cancels 'MadTV'

Madtv Fox has canceled one of its longest-running shows -- the late-night sketch comedy veteran "MadTV."

The Saturday night mainstay's current 14th season will be its last on the network, say Fox sources confirming a report on Defamer.

Yet the show's co-creator David Salzman says he's not giving up on the program and plans to shop "MadTV" to cable networks and other outlets.

"There’s a long list of parties that have called us, including a few very recently, and we’re going to start conversations with them very shortly," Salzman says.

Fox told Salzman the show had become too expensive considering its time period and ratings. Unlike dramas and comedies that suffer the broadcast ax, however, Salzman believes his show's budget can scaled back to suit a cable network.

"I think we can change it without it really being noticeable," he says. "We’ve learned over the years how to do things on an efficient basis."

Salzman calls his show "the only success in the 21-year history of Fox's late night" and gave credit to the network for giving him enough notice to potentially find another distributor without interrupting production. He adds that Fox ordered a shortened season this year and will wrap production in December.

In one respect, the timing of the cancellation is actually fortuitous -- the show’s licensing deal with Comedy Central, which airs the show's first 11 seasons in repeats, is set to expire at the end of the year. Salzman can offer buyers the exclusive rights to air the show's library of content if they pick up the show, or sell the show and its library separately.

Lucky to Be Alive: Car Plunges 40 Feet Off I-5 in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA - A woman and her daughter were lucky to be alive Sunday after their SUV plunged 40 feet off an Interstate 5 overpass in south Sacramento, according to the CHP.

The Ford Explorer was heading southbound on I-5 just south of Pocket Road around 11 a.m. Sunday when she lost control of the vehicle, CHP Sgt. Scott Balant said.

Balant said the woman's SUV veered right, smashed through a guardrail and fell about 40 feet to the ground below. The Explorer hit a tree on the way down, but it was unclear whether the tree or a chain link fence below helped slow the SUV's descent, Balant said.

The daughter was hospitalized with unknown injuries, while the driver complained of some leg pain, cuts and bruises, but was relatively unhurt.

"To come out of this alive, it's a big thing," Balant said.

Investigators were looking into what caused the woman to lose control of the SUV.

The daughter had no major injuries. The Mother suffered a broken knee.

Here's the kicker: Her knee X-Ray showed a tumor that otherwise would've gone undetected.

Praise Him.

Sgt. Tyson Two Two stood on a war blanket provided by his family, a traditional Northern Cheyenne Tribe war bonnet perfectly complementing his dress blues, as drummers and singers welcomed him home.

Saturday afternoon in the baggage claim lobby of Billings Logan International Airport, Two Two, 24, a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, was welcomed home from a seven-month tour in Iraq by about 50 family members and friends from the Northern Cheyenne reservation.

"I knew something was going on today because they asked me to come in uniform," the 2002 Colstrip High grad said with a smile while surveying the crowd gathered at the airport in his honor. "It feels great to be back. It's been a long time."

Two Two was in Iraq from April to October this year as a Marine transport mechanic, supporting combat security teams at Al Asad Air Base, in the towns of Fallujah and Ramadi and along the Jordanian and Syrian borders.
The power and emotion of his homecoming ceremony, which lasted nearly 30 minutes, could be felt throughout the lobby from the moment Two Two appeared at the top of the stairs leading down from the concourse. As soon as the brim of his white cap bobbed into view, a few quick whispers of "there he is" moved through the crowd and a few elder Northern Cheyenne members began singing a slow, methodical chant of prayer, healing and welcome.

A war blanket for Two Two was laid on the floor to stand on during the ceremony, another was draped around his shoulders and family members replaced his Marine Corps dress cap with a feathered war bonnet as a small circle of drummers thumped a steady rhythm in the background.

Two Two's father, Vince Two Two Sr., said the war blankets are handed down in families and given to returning warriors to help ward off bad dreams from war demons and comfort them while they sleep. The war bonnet, he said, helps usher in change.

"We know them as soldiers when they go in (to war)," Vince Two Two explained. "When they come back, they are warrior-soldiers."

After the presentation, the crowd - most of whom made the two-hour drive to Billings from Two Two's hometown of Lame Deer on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation - lined up to hug him and welcome him home. Even onlookers deplaning from flights stopped to watch, and a few thanked Two Two for his service.

Most of the time, Two Two stood stoic and stone-faced, but once family members started hugging him, especially the younger ones, the stern look crumbled, briefly, into one of teary-eyed happiness.

"It's a big relief that he's home," his mother, Mary Ann Bearcomesout, said. "I was worried about him when he was gone."

Two Two's uncle, Charles Bearcomesout, is also a Marine Corps veteran, having served in the early 1960s. He said that with Two Two's return, family and friends can help him adjust to life back in America. Much of the ceremony - including the singers and drummers and a ceremonial dance - was designed to cleanse Two Two and help him recover from any spiritual and mental wounds he may have received, and a sweat lodge ceremony is being held in Lame Deer today to pray and let him tell his story.

"People who have been in combat can change," Charles Bearcomesout said. "We have to become aware of that. That's why we included the medicine (singers) - to help with the healing process."

Two Two - who joined the Marines four years ago and has a brother, Uriah Two Two, serving his third tour with the Army in Iraq - said he is looking forward to the chance to relax and catch up with friends and family. He said that "things are starting to look better in Iraq" and that he plans on becoming a recruiter for the Marines soon.

"I'm glad to be back and still serving this country," he said.

Vince Two Two expressed similar feelings, saying he can already see that his son has learned valuable lessons from his service.

"I'm very proud of him, of his achievement, of what he's making of himself," he said. "These personal traits he's gained of respect and honor, for his country, for his people and for tradition - he's gotten to look in from the outside. He was always looking out from the inside before.

"There's been a quiet, empty loneliness since he left, waiting to get a call saying I may have lost my son. But today, I rejoice and thank God he's come home."

The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama’s honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is one of 17 people appointed to help advise President-elect Barack Obama on the economy during his transition period.

Granholm will meet with Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden Friday in Chicago.

Other members of the "transition economic advisory board" include former Michigan Rep. David Bonior, Warren Buffett and former U.S. treasury secretaries under President Clinton -- Lawrence Summers and Robert Rubin.

That hasn't worked out that great for Michigan, as it's one of the worst economically depressed states in America. I'll bet they're happy they re-elected her in 2006...

Michigan’s Governor, Jennifer Granholm, has supplied us with a real life example of what happens when you put Obama’s proposed tax and spend programs in place. Granholm’s destruction of the Michigan economy is a real life illustration of what is to be expected with an Obama victory in November.

Note that both Granholm and Obama learned their economic theory at Harvard Law School, even though Harvard Law doesn’t really teach economic theory. The theory adopted by Granholm and Obama is not the sole theory taught at that prestigious school. Why did these politicians adopt the particular theory they believe in? It might be due to the fact that neither spent their formative years in the US. (Obama in Indonesia, Granholm in Canada). They favor a more Socialist Europen Economic Model of the world. (Europe is presently in a recession and relative to the US, is in a more negative position) or it may just be that the Liberal wing of the Democratic Party has always favored this type of “progressive” tax and spend model. The conservative wing of the Democratic Party (Clinton White House) does not favor this “tax and spend philosophy”.

Now we'll all get to enjoy the economic policies of Michigan! Yay...

U.S. Stocks Tumble in Market's Worst Two-Day Slump Since 1987

Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks slid, sending the market to its biggest two-day slump since 1987, after jobless claims jumped and the shrinking economy crushed earnings at companies from Blackstone Group Inc. to News Corp.

Blackstone, the largest private-equity firm, fell 12 percent after posting the biggest quarterly loss in its 18 months as a public company. News Corp. sank 16 percent after the media company controlled by Rupert Murdoch said ad sales decreased. Chevron Corp. fell 6.4 percent as oil tumbled to a 19-month low, while an unexpected decrease in chain-store sales dragged down 25 of 27 shares in the S&P 500 Retailing Index.

``We're a long way from the end of the economic challenges,'' said Mike Morcos, who helps manage $1 billion at Old Second Wealth Management in Aurora, Illinois. ``Earnings next year are going to be significantly lower and estimates are going to continue to come down.''

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 5 percent to 904.88, extending its two-day loss to 10 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average retreated 443.48 points, or 4.9 percent, to 8,695.79. The Russell 2000 Index of small U.S. companies declined 3.7 percent to 495.84. The MSCI World Index of 23 developed markets lost 5.9 percent to 925.09.

The two-day tumble following Election Day wiped out more than half of the market's rebound from a five-year low on Oct. 27. Both the S&P 500 and Dow average posted their biggest two-day slides since plunging more than 24 percent as rising borrowing costs helped spur the market crash of October 1987.

You dope's that voted for O'Bama are going to be sorely disappointed when he isn't able to produce and your lives get progressively worse.

But of course, I know you'll just blame it on Bush and the Republicans...

The problem with that is, you can't have it both ways. You guys said that everything that happened on Bush's watch was his fault, instead of things that Clinton did, coming to fruition. Likewise, you won't be able to claim that it was Bush's fault when O'Bama falls on his face and you're in the poor-house.

What’s in your wallet? Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean would like to know.

Dean and Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan were speakers at a luncheon at the National Press Club Nov. 5, where both reflected on what went right and wrong with their efforts during the 2008 election cycle.

Dean revealed his party used credit card data to predict voting outcomes. However, Democrats and the media have been highly critical of credit card companies that provide that data.

“We now can do what they can do,” Dean said. “We have your credit card data like they do. They’ve been for years doing something that we, until 2006, weren’t able to do. We can predict with 85 percent accuracy how you’re going to vote based on your credit card data without bothering to see what party you’re in – the Secretary of State’s office.”

“They’ve been doing it for a long time,” Dean said of Republicans. “No wonder we’ve been throwing rocks at the bottom of the well. These guys – we can argue about how well they run the country, but they certainly know how to run elections.”

Dean’s admission that his party is using credit card data in elections is curious because a plank in the Democratic Party’s 2008 platform vows to regulate that very instrument through a “Credit Card Bill of Rights”…

He lays out the positives and negatives of O'Bama's presidency quite well.

Well worth your time.

1. Obama's "hold out your hand to everyone" foreign policy is going to be a catastrophe. They'll love it in Europe. They're probably laughing their heads off about it in the middle east already.

2. The US hasn't suffered a terrorist attack by al Qaeda since 9/11, but we'll get at least one during Obama's term.

3. We're going to lose in Afghanistan.

4. Iran will get nuclear weapons. There will be nuclear war between Iran and Israel. (This is the only irreversibly terrible thing I see upcoming, and it's very bad indeed.)

5. There will eventually be a press backlash against Obama which will make their treatment of Bush look mild. Partly that's going to be because Obama is going to disappoint them just as much as all his other supporters. Partly it will be the MSM desperately trying to regain its own credibility, by trying to show that they're not in his tank any longer. And because of that they are eventually going to do the reporting they should have done during this campaign, about Obama's less-than-savory friends, and about voter fraud, and about illegal fund-raising, and about a lot of other things.

and 6. Obama will not be re-elected in 2012. He may even end up doing an LBJ and not even running again.

I've been a HUGE supporter of Israel for many, many years.

78% of Jews in the US voted for O'Bama, which is 4% more than voted for Kerry four years ago.

O'Bama is clearly anti-Israel, yet Jews voted for him. It was clearly against the best interests of ANY Jew to support O'Bama, yet the majority of them did.

I will now stand by and watch as O'Bama pursues Palestinian-friendly/Anti-Israeli policies, since apparently that is what Jews really want. I will NEVER support the Palestinians or the Palestinian cause, but neither can I support Israel. I hope it was worth whatever gains you get from selling your souls to a man that supports your enemy.

...I think the media will finally start to look into who Barry O'Bama really is.

I don't think they have a choice, they'll need to drum up business, since more than half the country thinks they're corrupt and that they're liars.

BTW, I think the market will go way down when it opens this morning.

The hostages were released after Ronald Reagan was sworn in to office, because the Iranian terrorists knew what Hell awaited them with Ronald Reagan.

This election is a choice between the weakness of Jimmy Carter and the strength of Ronald Reagan.

We could well see ourselves in the same position (and worse) if O'Bama becomes Jimmy Carter II, which he will.
